My April Favorites
Despite our average low 40 temps, there are FINALLY some signs of spring around here. New tulips and daffodils burst into bloom daily (shout out to Tulip Charming Beauty and Tulip Exotic Emperor in particular!).
As Andrew and I are planning a wedding this year, life feels crazier than usual, but something in me feels that way all the time. There are always so many projects, so many things to look forward to. I’ve been posting a weekly vlog on my YouTube channel for the past month, and it feels really exciting to reconnect in that space again. Sharing my life in a more well-rounded, lifestyle context has felt like the path forward to my existence in social media for a long time now, so I’m glad to finally feel freer to embrace this evolution of my online presence.
I wish I could keep up with regular posts on this blog as well, but I also have a full-time job that I give my all to every day. I can’t do it all! However, I think that posting occasionally when I can is still better than nothing, so today I’m sharing my first ever monthly favorites post!
Hope your April was amazing, happy happy birthday to my sister tomorrow, and in two days… it’s gonna (gonna gonna gonna…) it’s gonna be MAY. (#ifyouknowyouknow)
McCalls 7974 sewing pattern: I wore the top I made from this pattern probably more than any other me-made item this month. So fun to sew too, with a clever construction.
Ikea’s DYTÅG pillowcase: It’s made of really soft 100% linen and comes in 3 colors. We bought two of the red-brown cases.
H&M smocked-bodice dress: I think I wore this dress 3 days in a row this month. It’s a perfect casual-chic summer dress. Can’t wait to wear it without a jacket.
ByTerry Brightening CC Liquid Blush in Rosy Flash: New-in beauty this month. I am smitten. It’s such a natural flush and I love cream products.
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig: Finished three books this month. This was my favorite. A real page-turner.
Hudson Valley Lighting Bowery Bathroom Sconce: If you watched my last vlog, you may have seen that we are doing a light bathroom reno/refresh. These are the sconces we picked out and I’m in love. Here is a similar, less expensive dupe, and we also considered this one and this one.
Anna Allen Persephone Pants and Shorts pattern: Really this is just an all-the-time favorite. Chic and comfy.
Floral dress: I had one shot to get a dress in time for my future sister-in-law’s wedding. It ended up being PERFECT.
Waffle Knit Hand Towels in grey-brown: We needed a set of matching, truly absorbent towels for the kitchen. These have been amazing. One of my favorite purchases in a long time.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: This foundation gets so much hype, and after trying I see why. Absolutely flawless, velvety finish. My skin looks airbrushed when I use it. It will absolutely be my wedding day foundation.
Michelle Large 15 in. x 10.6 in. Terracotta Clay Planter: A gorgeous, 15” terracotta clay pot for only $10. Enough said.
Pillow inserts: One of my favorite bloggers, Chris Loves Julia, tested the Top-5 Amazon Inserts and rated them for us all to learn from. I bought her top choice, and they are every bit as good as she says.
Journelle Bras: After not purchasing bras for over 10 YEARS (yes, years), the time had come to finally invest in some new ones. I tried 4 brands: Cuup, Harper Wilde, Thirdlove, and Journelle. Of the 15 bras I tried, I kept 1 Thirdlove bra, and 4 Journelle bras. The are beautiful, sexy pieces that make you feel good while you wear them and are also comfortable.
Selling Sunset Season 5: Just so we’re all fully aware that it is very much ME over here!
